| There will never be another Tioga Hotel. Built in 1929 as one of the State's first "Fireproof" Hotels, the Tioga has reinforced concrete floors, exterior walls, and roof - and it hasn't settled a bit. No wonder it's on the National Register of Historic Places and has survived neglect so well! |

Many aspects of the building were in excellent condition before we started.
1990: $900,000 was spent on the which included completely rewiring the
facility and installing a fire detection system.
1998: $100,000 was spent on new boilers and an on-demand hot water
heater
2002: $400,000 (est.) was spent on renovating the entire building, including
a new water softener system, restaurant equipment, painting, carpet,
etc.
2004: $400,000 will be spent on new air conditioning, carpet, equipment,
roof, electric and plumbing improvements, elevator, restaurant equipment,
furniture, fixtures, repairs, and improvements.
We are expecting all renovation to be completed by August 1, 2005.
We want to express our appreciation to Main Street Chanute for obtaining a
$15,000 grant to be used toward our new $50,000 A-Lert metal roof.
