The new owners of the Tioga, Todd and Amy Johnson, were busy Thursday making the rounds and
meeting members of the Chanute community. Todd met with the city's Revolving Loan Fund Committee
over lunch and gave them a winning presentation about his plans for the hotel. The committee voted to
recommend approval of the loan. City commissioners will have the final decision at the Aug. 23
commission meeting.

Later Thursday, the Johnsons were introduced to members of Main Street Chanute at the
organization's volunteer recognition event. Sharon Stirewalt (left), Todd's aunt and the interim director
of Main Street Chanute, gave the introductions and announced her plans to manage the new Tioga
Suites facility. Hank Waggoner (right) attended the event Thursday evening in support of his wife
Becky, a past president of the organization.
