Room #512

In the spring of 2007, a woman from Kansas City came to the Tioga wanting a “haunted room” for the night "if there was one." The only room the staff knew about at the time was #508, but as it was rented out, she was put in the closest adjoining room available, #512. She was disappointed, but thanked the staff for helping her out.

The next morning she burst in the office and said she was up all night because there was so much paranormal activity in her room. The staff laughed among themselves and dismissed her as crazy.

However, after it was published on October 27, 2007, in the Chanute Tribune that some paranormal investigators were visiting the hotel, a woman came forward about her father. He had lived in an apartment at the hotel while it was an assisted living center, and had told her there were a lot of ghosts coming and going to his room. The only story she remembered, because he told her all the time, was about a woman who would come into his room every evening and do her laundry in his bathroom sink. Of course she thought he was just getting senile. She couldn’t remember his room number, but when taken upstairs to point out his room, she instantly recognized it as being room #512.
